A Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 player has discovered the World at War Courtyard multiplayer map hidden inside Black Ops 6.
X/Twitter user @M3RKMUS1C found Courtyard while exploring the outskirts of the Skyline map, though used unofficial means to get there meaning regular players won't be able to access it, at least not yet.
"Courtyard from World at War is coming back," they professed in the video. This is far from confirmed, of course, but the map can clearly be seen in Skyline, most identifiable by the two circular declines at its centre.
It's also entirely possible the development team at Treyarch included the map as a fun, internal Easter egg when filling out the background of Skyline, with nothing more significant meant by its inclusion.
— Erik (@M3RKMUS1C) October 28, 2024World at War is technically part of the Black Ops franchise, so Courtyard does have vague ties to Black Ops 6. It was also remade for Black Ops 2 in Dig, described as "an adaptation of the fan-favorite Courtyard from Call of Duty: World at War."
Treyarch therefore clearly isn't against bringing it back, though hasn't said if it plans to do so for Black Ops 6. It will more than likely get map packs in the future as per Call of Duty tradition though, so perhaps another version of Courtyard will be included in one of those.
Black Ops 6 is off to a strong start, outperforming both Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 on Steam in its opening weekend. Its launch is also special as it marks the first Call of Duty game to come to Xbox Game Pass on launch day. Analysts expected its release could boost the subscription service by up to four million new users, but at the cost of six million lost sales.
