It’s going down in Denver!

During the first 12 days of training camp, it was nothing but smooth operational football for the Denver Broncos in preparation for the regular season. But on the 13th day, which was Tuesday, all hell broke loose in the form of a fight.

According to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis, an original skirmish began courtesy of rookie tight end Justin Joly. Fast forward a number of plays later, and Joly ended up making a catch just to be “de-cleated” by a fellow rookie in linebacker Taurean York. This apparently made the Broncos’ defense very happy. From there, things only intensified.

Later on during practice, linebacker Nik Bonitto and defensive tackle Malcolm Roach collapsed the pocket to the point where quarterback Bo Nix was knocked to the ground. The incident is the second time in training camp that Roach was a part of Nix being put on his, well, you know. And according to DNVR’s Zac Stevens, Nix was “pissed” about it and tossed the ball in anger.

Bo Nix barreled into on the first play and knocked down. Nix was hot. Threw the ball at Malcolm Roach and yelled as Roach celebrated.

If you didn’t know, defensive players aren’t allowed to make physical contact with the quarterback in practice. Fortunately, Nix was fine and good to go.

At this point in practice, you could have cut the tension with a knife. That’s part of the reason why the Broncos sent Bonitto to the sideline, so he could calm his emotions.

Shortly after completing a pass to wide receiver Courtland Sutton, Nix tossed an interception to linebacker Alex Singleton. While Singleton was making a return, the ball was stripped and the situation turned into a “melee,” per Klis. Nix, who was angry, had to be held back by his teammates following the quarterback pulling Bonitto away from a pile, per Stevens.

First real fight of training camp.

HUGE pile on the ground.

Bo Nix (angry from getting sacked and taken to the ground earlier) grabbed Nik Bonitto’s leg and pulled him off the pile.

Nik then got very angry and was held back by multiple teammates.

According to Stevens and Klis, offensive guard Calvin Throckmorton was left bleeding from his face in the aftermath. As a result, he had to go into the locker room, doing so with trainers and an ice pack placed over his left eye.

Bo Nix threw a pick and a scrum started among the linemen.

Nix ran ran to the pile and grabbed Nik Bonitto by the leg trying to pull him off the pile. Took a minute to separate the sides. Most heated I’ve seen in the Sean Payton era.

Calvin Throckmorton was bleeding.
