Pizza lovers across the country have been singing the praises of a hidden yet simplistic Canadian-style pepperoni pie - calling it 'absolutely genius'.
An 18-year-old Windsor resident, who goes by @OxfordW0lf on X, sent the internet into a frenzy after he shared an image of delectable looking pizza covered in shredded pepperoni online - rather than the classic version.
'Fun fact about Ontario (where I live) is that we shred our pepperoni before putting it on pizza,' the small-town teenager wrote.
Eagle-eyed foodies soon discovered that the pie is known as a Windsor-style pizza and is only made in Canada's automotive capital.
The tweet, which has garnered nearly 10 million views, soon had enthusiasts raving about how efficient and 'incredibly genius' the technique is.
'This seems like an excellent idea. I hate halfway biting into a slice only to pull out an entire disc of pepperoni, and with it drags out everything it was attached to. It takes away from the pepperoni meant for later. It being thinner would allow it to get crispy instead of hard', one passionate foodaholic wrote.
'Wait a f***** minute this is genius,' another marvelled.
When asked by one keen viewer, 'Does this make the pizza taste better or worse?', the enthusiastic Windsor locals assured, 'A lot better tbh. It makes it so there's pepperoni in every bite'.
Another added: 'I've definitely noticed this around Windsor… I like that you get a lot of pepperonis in each bite'.
One mid aged pizza lover also said: 'I'm 74 and in my entire life, I have never ever seen shredded pepperoni on a pizza.. Might be good tho'.

But some people seemed to disagree with the majority opinion and preferred the classic pepperoni pizza.
'Yeah but you don't want every bite to taste the same, there's got to be a modicum of variety,' one argued.
While another classic-style lover said: 'Mmm every bite gets a bunch of peperoni worms in my mouth people in Windsor need to be locked in there. They are not right in the head'.
One of America's favorite toppings, pepperoni is a cured salami made of beef or pork and spiced with paprika along with other chilis.
The conventional pepperoni pizza involves layers of tomato sauce, cheese and circular slices of the meat baked all over the pie and is one of the most popular choices across the nation.

'Opened in 1957 by cousins Gino Manza and Frank Gualtieri, Volcano initially operated as an Italian diner and later started serving pizza in the 1960s'.
At its peak, the eatery was delivering its pizza throughout town using 20 Volkswagen Beetle delivery cars.
While ensuring every bite of pizza is flavorful, shredding the pepperoni also allows the oil that tends to pool in pepperoni cups to spread across the pizza’s surface.
