Cannes’ Critics Week, the parallel section dedicated to first and second films, has unveiled the poster for its 64th edition and has enlisted a new sponsor, the French fashion brand Ami.

The red-and-purple poster shows the pop diva of Alexis Langlois’ film “Queens of Drama” performing on stage, dressed in a flashy fur coat. Sold internationally by Charades, “Queens of Drama” world premiered last year at Critics Week and marked the feature debut of Langlois, a French music video director.

Langlois is part of a young generation of filmmakers that “breathes new life into the art form” that Critics Week aims at highlighting as they make their “first steps onto the international stage,” said the sidebar, which is curated by well-respected artistic director Ava Cahen.

This 64th edition will also mark the arrival of hip French fashion Ami as Critics Week’s new official partner, succeeding to Nespresso.

Ami, which has also backed a number of prestige auteur movies in recent years, was founded by Alexandre Mattiussi who is creative director for the brand and is committed to championing bold filmmaking and young talents.

“Together with fashion, cinema is the great passion of my life,” said Mattiussi. “The Grand Prix AMI Paris de la Semaine de la Critique is a fantastic occasion to celebrate emerging talents and young directors. AMI and I are very honored to have the opportunity, through this Prize, to encourage their creativity and help them build their careers,” Mattiussi continued.

An international jury will award The Grand Prize AMI Paris to one of the seven movies in competition this year. Cannes’ Critics week will take place May 14-22 at the Espace Miramar.
