Carrie Underwood has broken her social media silence after her Donald Trump inauguration performance was hit by technical difficulties.

Tellingly, the 41-year-old country singer - who is set to be a judge on American Idol - took to her Instagram Story on Thursday and opted to not mention the performance at all in her first social media activity since the appearance.

The star promoted her upcoming concert as she shared a grab from it with the caption: 'TOMORROW! Check out the #REFLECTION concert special on @hulu and #HuluOnDisneyPlus! #CUinVegas [gem emoji]'

Interestingly she set the post to the tune of her 2018 song Drinking Alone.

The country star was invited to sing America The Beautiful as President Donald Trump, 78, was sworn in for a second term in office on Monday.

Her decision to perform for the Republican was polarizing to say the least as she was blasted by many on social media including being seemingly shaded by Mandy Moore.

However, the performance proved to be disastrous for other reasons as the accompanying music failed to play amid a shock technical glitch.

It was announced earlier this month that the Before He Cheats hitmaker would take to the stage at the inauguration in Washington D.C. - which had been moved indoors due to the cold temperatures.

Her appearance at the event divided fans, and she broke her silence last week to address the controversial performance and expressed in a statement, per USA Today, that she was 'honored' to sing at the event.

'I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.'

Underwood added, 'I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.'

However she has since failed to address the performance after the fact.

Trump's inauguration took place inside Capitol Hill on Monday and after he was officially sworn in, Underwood took to the stage to perform America The Beautiful.

After taking her place at the front, the music for the track began to play before abruptly coming to a halt a few seconds later.

While gripping onto her microphone, the songstress awaited for the tune to start playing while the others also paused in the lengthy silence.

Finally, Carrie decided to still go on with the performance A cappella and encouraged the other attendees: 'If you know the words, help me out here.'

The star sang the lyrics to America The Beautiful and garnered cheers and applause from the crowd afterwards.

However, sources revealed to DailyMail.com that Underwood was left feeling like she had not been 'afforded the same level of respect' as the likes of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga for her performance on Monday.

An insider said she was furious over the fact she wasn't given a 'stage or platform even' like previous performers, and explained how the indoor conditions had a large impact on Underwood's performance.

'Carrie was dissatisfied with her performance at the event, primarily due to the limited space she was given, which left her feeling cramped and uncomfortable,' they said.

'Her anxiety was high throughout the performance, and she felt that she was not afforded the same level of respect or admiration that previous performers, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, had received.'

'She felt as if she was ushered in and out and had a mini hissy fit afterwards,' they added. 'She is used to playing at massive venues with a stage to herself. She was not given a stage or a platform even.'

After taking her place at the front near the podium, the music for the track began to play before abruptly coming to a halt a few seconds later

'She felt like she was literally just in a room with people all around her and a microphone. This threw off the acoustics.'

A insider source clarified that although Underwood's performance 'wasn't ideal,' she is still 'proud of herself' that she was 'able to save it from being a total disaster.'

A separate insider also revealed the list of Carrie's demands ahead of her performance at the inauguration.

'Carrie was the inauguration day diva. She'd been telling anyone who wanted to listen that Trump called her personally to ask her to perform.'

'Carrie was the inauguration day diva. She'd been telling anyone who wanted to listen that Trump called her personally to ask her to perform,' a separate insider told DailyMail.com

'She hired an army of security, was requesting a handmade designer dress for the performance, and demanded she be allowed a team of 20. She of course demanded tickets for her family and friends on top of that as well.'

In regards to the backlash she received after agreeing to sing at the event, the source shared that Underwood, 'stopped reading the backlash because Carrie does not care what others think of her.'

'She stopped caring years ago. She has come from such humble beginnings, but she is not that same person anymore.'

'She will no doubt get a ton of promotional and sponsorship deals, and this will undoubtedly boost her record sales,' the insider continued.
