A classified CIA file reportedly warns that Israel is at the brink of “civil war” or “state collapse.”

The CIA Red Cell unit produced a cautionary file titled “Fractures From Within” in August, DropSiteNews reported Monday. Founded in response to 9/11, the CIA Red Cell is a semi-independent unit established to provide “alternative analysis” to mitigate all of the threats and “what-ifs” in a geopolitical situation.

The agency’s report also warned that Israel’s loss of international support has increased domestic strife, according to the outlet.

The CIA did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

By Spring 2026, 60 percent of Americans viewed Israel in an unfavorable light — a figure up seven points from 53 percent the previous year, DropSiteNews reported citing a Pew Research Center survey released in April. As Israel’s Oct. 27 election approaches and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fights to hang onto power the country faces significant economic strain. As settlers increasingly commit acts of violence on the West Bank, yet are exempt from service, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers return home with psychological issues, according to DropSiteNews.

Like Americans, Israeli civilians have borne the brunt of the country’s hawkish policies. The cost of food has risen 9.5 percent over the past two years, exacerbating an already dire cost-of-living situation, the outlet reported.

“Famously the Freikorps of Germany were PTSD-addled veterans with weapons and bloodthirst,” one anonymous U.S. government source warned DropSiteNews. “I’m not saying Israel post Gaza is Germany post-WWI but there are certainly aspects of this that ring similar to me.”

“The intelligence community, like America, like the military, like everywhere, is growing frustrated with the real and political capital that’s spent on propping up Israel,” the U.S. government source also told DropSiteNews. “As we’re moving forward with further integrating our military-industrial capacity with them, there’s deep frustration that we’re doing this for a country that dragged us into a war we’re losing, a country that spies on us.”
