Ella Langley’s country anthem, “Choosin’ Texas,” has dethroned Mariah Carey with a record-breaking 23 weeks at No. 1.
The country hit has now spent more weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 than any other song in history. The milestone permanently pushes out Carey’s previous record set with her holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
Langley’s achievement marks a major moment for country music on the all-genre chart.
This has been a strong year for Langley, who continues to shatter records.
She made history in February when “Choosin’ Texas” simultaneously topped the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. Her success has carried into the 60th Annual CMA Awards, where she leads all artists with nine nominations, including Entertainer of the Year. Carey is known as the ‘Queen of Christmas’ thanks in large part to the enduring success of her holiday classic. She has not publicly commented on being bumped out of the top spot.
