Crypto.com has announced it will donate $1 million to support relief efforts following the wildfires that have ravaged California.

Specifically, Crypto.com, creator of Cronos (CRO), will donate $1 million to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the California Fire Foundation, and the Los Angeles Police Foundation. The support is aimed at helping to equip firefighters and first responders in Los Angeles, the exchange announced.

According to a press release by Crypto.com, the funds will enable these key departments to acquire the gear and equipment necessary to ensure their safety as they respond to the ongoing wildfires. The donation will also help LA firefighters and police prepare for similar disasters in the future.

“We have an intimate connection to the City of Los Angeles through AEG and the Crypto.com Arena and our hearts are with all those impacted by the tragic wildfires,” Matt David, president of North America and chief corporate affairs officer at Crypto.com, said.

Crypto.com will work with its partners and community to provide support to those in need, David added.

California has faced unprecedented destruction from the wildfires that spread across the state in early January. Thousands of people have been displaced, and significant property damage has been reported.

Donations from the crypto community include a $100,000 pledge from Ripple, which announced it would support relief efforts through World Central Kitchen and GiveDirectly. Ripple’s donation will be made in the XRP (XRP) cryptocurrency.
