We look ahead to Tuesday’s UEFA Nations League game at Fortuna Arena with our Czechia vs England prediction and preview. Thomas Tuchel’s side are looking to bounce back after a disappointing opening loss to Spain.
Czechia vs England: The Key Stats
- England are backed to return to winning ways against Czechia, winning 63.9% of the Opta supercomputer’s pre-match simulations.
- However, England have lost two of their last three matches in all competitions, as many as in their previous 23 combined.
- Czechia have lost their last two games in all competitions, last losing more consecutively between June and September 2022 (4).
Both Czechia and England made a losing start to the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League campaign, giving this fixture a must-win feeling early on in Group A3.
Luka Modrić rolled back the years to undo Czechia, helping Croatia to a 2-1 win on Saturday, while at the same time, England threw away a second-half lead to lose 3-2 at home to world champions Spain.
It was a disappointing return to action for the Three Lions, who made two errors leading to a goal in a competitive match for the first time since June 2019 against the Netherlands, which was also in the Nations League.
They were haunted once again by Mikel Oyarzabal, who popped up with the winner, just as he did in the Euro 2024 final. Harry Kane’s unsuccessful penalty attempt shortly after the break, when England were leading 2-1, proved particularly costly.
England have lost two of their last three matches in all competitions – also their heartbreaking World Cup semi-final loss to Argentina – as many as in their previous 23 combined.
They’ve not lost consecutive games since June/September 2022, also in the Nations League against Hungary and Italy.
But England’s recent defensive record will be the biggest worry for Thomas Tuchel. His team have conceded 13 goals in their last six games, almost double the amount they had in their first 17 under the German coach (7).
Indeed, they’ve conceded 3+ goals in their last two matches, last doing so in three in a row in February 1927.
At the other end of the pitch, England look just as strong as usual, and Kane has netted four goals in six Nations League appearances since the start of the 2024-25 edition. That’s more than he scored across the first three editions of the competition he played in (3 in 18 games – 2018-19, 2020-21, 2022-23).
And he’s scored 17 goals in 19 appearances under Tuchel – since the German took charge in March 2025, only Erling Haaland (26), Kylian Mbappé (19) and Oyarzabal (18) have hit the back of the net more often than Kane in all competitions for European nations.
Jude Bellingham wasn’t on the scoresheet against Spain, but he did set up Anthony Gordon’s opener before winning the penalty after the break.
Bellingham has been involved in nine goals in his last nine international appearances (7 goals, 2 assists), more than any other England player since the start of the World Cup.
But Czechia have a goal threat of their own, and they will be hoping Adam Karabec can make an impact against England. He averages a goal or an assist every 89 minutes for Czechia (3 goals, 1 assist in 355 minutes), netting in the loss against Croatia.
But Czechia are in desperate need of a win themselves after a difficult recent period that saw them exit the World Cup in the group stage with only one point to their name.
They’ve lost their last two games in all competitions, last losing more consecutively between June and September 2022 (4).
And that defeat to Croatia last time out ended a 19-game unbeaten home run (W14 D5) – they have not lost consecutive home matches since June 2016, a record they will be keen not to match.
Czechia vs England Head-to-Head
This will be England’s first away game against Czechia since October 2019, a 2-1 defeat in a Euro 2020 qualifier.
Only three other teams have won consecutive home matches against England this century: Spain (3), France (2) and Sweden (2).
England have lost just one of their last nine meetings with Czechia in all competitions (W6 D2), though it was on that last visit in 2019.
Czechia vs England Prediction
England are the overwhelming favourites to triumph in Tuesday’s clash, with the Opta supercomputer giving them a 63.9% chance of victory.
Czechia’s hopes of taking all three points sit at 15.7%, while they have a further 20.4% chance of earning a draw.
