It may still be the height of summer, but one fast-food chain is already inviting customers to swap sunscreen for sweater weather.

Dairy Queen has become the latest restaurant to jump aboard the increasingly early fall food trend, unveiling a brand-new Caramel Apple Cheesecake Blizzard weeks before autumn officially begins.

Available now as Dairy Queen's Blizzard of the Month for August, the limited-edition dessert blends the chain's signature vanilla soft serve with cheesecake pieces and caramel apple topping, offering customers a taste of fall while temperatures are still soaring.

The launch comes as restaurants and grocery brands continue pushing seasonal products earlier each year, with pumpkin spice drinks, apple-flavored treats and autumn snacks already appearing on shelves despite August only just beginning.

Dairy Queen says the new Blizzard is designed to satisfy those already craving cozy fall flavors.

Describing the treat, the chain said it combines 'cheesecake pieces and caramel apple topping blended with world-famous DQ soft serve to Blizzard perfection,' calling it 'a delicious way to satisfy seasonal cravings while the weather is still warm.'

The new flavor will only be available throughout August before making way for Dairy Queen's full Fall Treat Collection, which arrives on August 31.

That seasonal lineup includes the return of the fan-favorite Pumpkin Pie Blizzard, made with real pumpkin pie pieces blended into vanilla soft serve and topped with whipped cream and nutmeg.

Joining it is another brand-new dessert, the Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Blizzard, featuring brown sugar cookie dough pieces and brown sugar topping mixed into the chain's signature soft serve.

Coffee lovers will also be able to order a Toasted Marshmallow Mocha DQ Coffee Cooler, blending cold brew coffee with soft serve, cocoa fudge and whipped topping.

The Blizzard has become one of Dairy Queen's signature products since its debut in 1985, when the frozen dessert was launched with the now-famous promise that it was so thick it could be served upside down without spilling.

That upside-down flip has since become one of the chain's most recognizable traditions, with many locations offering customers a free replacement if their Blizzard isn't flipped before being handed over.

To celebrate the latest launch, Dairy Queen is also bringing back its Double Flip promotion.

From August 3 through August 30, DQ Rewards members can buy one Blizzard and get a second for 99 cents, with the offer redeemable once per day through the app.

Early reactions online suggest the new flavor is already generating excitement.

On Reddit, where photos of the upcoming Blizzard first surfaced before its official launch, one Dairy Queen employee confirmed: 'Caramel Apple Cheesecake... it's good!'

Another fan couldn't contain their excitement, writing: 'Caramel apple cheesecake!! sooo excited.'

Others welcomed the return of apple-inspired desserts after years dominated by pumpkin spice.

One commenter wrote: 'WOOOOOOOH ITS BEEN YEARS,' while another said they hoped it would bring back memories of Dairy Queen's former Caramel Apple Pie Blizzard.

The new Blizzard arrives as fast-food chains increasingly compete to win over customers with limited-time menu items, creating urgency around seasonal releases that encourage repeat visits before the products disappear.

Anyone hoping to try Dairy Queen's latest creation, however, will need to act quickly.

The Caramel Apple Cheesecake Blizzard is only available for a limited time during August before giving way to the chain's wider fall menu at the end of the month.
