David Beckham's appearance has untypically come under the microscope after viewers claimed the soccer legend featured on the Today Show with a 'swollen' face.
Beckham, 49, was a special guest on Wednesday's edition of the daily NBC program as he discussed a wide-range of topics; including the devastating Los Angeles wildfires and his Emmy win for the hit Netflix docuseries on his life and career.
Yet his latest TV outing has left fans stunned, with many accusing the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star of looking slightly puffy in the face.
Beckham's 'swollen' look was analyzed brutally on Spanish TV show 'La Sexta' after presenter Alfonso Arus said he appeared 'slightly more swollen' than usual.
Members of the panel alleged that it may be due to a cosmetic procedure, though there has not been any confirmation of Beckham undergoing plastic surgery of late.
'It is true that sometimes when you undergo some kind of cosmetic touch-up the swelling has to go down,' said collaborator Tatiana Arus.

However, the assessment from commentator Patricia Benitez was even more cutting: 'He is in decline, horrible,' Benitez said.
Beckham, who has enjoyed a lengthy and successful modeling career dating back to his early years as a soccer player, also appeared to have 'trouble laughing' while on the show, Angie Cardenas added on La Sexta.
'It's true that it seems like he has trouble laughing because he can't move the muscles in his face,' she said.
'He looks a bit strange... Maybe the lighting on the set isn't the best.'
Beckham transcended soccer during his legendary career after bursting onto the fashion and modeling scene alongside ex-popstar wife Victoria.
Since retiring from playing, the former England captain has ventured into ownership as a co-founder of MLS team Inter Miami.
Towards the end of his playing days he also enjoyed a brief stint in Los Angeles, where his son Brooklyn, 25, still resides with his wife Nicola Peltz.

But after his Today appearance viewers are speculating Beckham has had cosmetic surgery
David confirmed Brooklyn was safe on Today following the deadly wildfires which have destroyed thousands of homes and killed 25 in the LA area over the past week.
But he added: 'It's devastating, we have a big heart that is still in Los Angeles and obviously, to see everything that's going on there, we just send our love and thoughts to everyone who is affected by what's going on.'
'I've always said that America is the land of opportunity, and LA has incredible opportunities and the spirit that they have there, they'll come back stronger but it's gonna take time.
'We send our love and thoughts to everyone affected by this devastating situation.'
