CV NEWS FEED // As hundreds of thousands flock to Washington, D.C., for President-elect Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration, the director of the Catholic Information Center has called for Catholics visiting the city to form a community of prayer at the Center’s chapel.

“It is my desire that this year the Catholic Information Center — which hosts the closest tabernacle to the White House with Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament — becomes a center of prayer for our country, our elected leaders, our future, all our brothers and sisters, our military, and so many other intentions,” Fr. Charles Trullols stated in an emailed news release.

Fr. Trullols added that the celebration of the 2025 Jubilee of Hope gives extra significance to acts of worship at the Center’s chapel this year.

“We’re celebrating a Jubilee, a Holy Year in which we open ourselves to God in a prominent way for Him to transform our lives,” he said, later inviting Catholics to treat the Center as a place of pilgrimage throughout the year.

While Catholics cannot receive a Jubilee plenary indulgence from making a pilgrimage to the Center, as it is not on the list of Jubilee pilgrimage sites in the Archdiocese of Washington, joining in prayer at the Center will nonetheless be an important act of devotion. Located on K Street, just two blocks away from the White House, the Center is an easily accessible place in which to intercede for the U.S. and its leaders.

The Center will be open Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A special traveler’s Mass will be celebrated Jan. 19 at 11 a.m.

On Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, the Center will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“This year, let’s demonstrate to all those around us that we are a people of Faith who prays,” Fr. Trullols said. “My deepest request is that you share this message with all your friends who may be visiting Washington, DC this year. Join the movement of prayer, and become a pilgrim of hope!”
