Team Trump offers a clear vision of border security as indistinguishable from national security, where the last crew treated it as a human-rights issue for those trying to get here — a vision that gave sanctuary in America even to the cruelest of killers.
Also notable: How the entire team visibly pushes the message home, as witness last week’s two-pronged Cabinet-level attack on the subject.
In New York, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem toured the Brooklyn subway station where a deranged illegal migrant allegedly immolated a sleeping homeless woman — and thundered at a press conference that, despite the ICE-issued detainer for the accused killer, the city can’t co-operate under its insane “sanctuary” rules.

This is the utter ridiculousness of extreme sanctuary policy: It protects outright criminals in the name of . . . what principle? That it’s the moral duty of Americans to be helpless victims in order to observe the more-righteous status of those with no claim to be US citizens?
President Trump, via Noem in this case, is making the left own its awful, nonsensical commitment to “sanctuary.”
The same day, Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard visited tiny Eagle Pass, Texas.
The town got hit by massive waves of illegal migrants under the Biden open-border policy, one of which was about half the size of Eagle Pass (pop. 29,000) itself.
In response, Biden sent 800 troops to the area — to help the border jumpers.
Once again, showing how Democrats put “waving migrants in” on a vastly higher moral plane than protecting American communities.
By sending Vance, Hegseth and Gabbard, Trump is signaling not just that the days of “La Invitacion” are over, but that national security vastly outweighs whatever good Democrats think they’re serving with their migration policies.
Crucially, Gabbard noted that of 100 migrants with suspected terror ties Biden apprehended in 2024, only eight ended up in custody or deported — the rest were released into the country.
“Sanctuary” cities and states shield them now, too.
Democrats — at all levels city, state and federal — caused our border crisis. Team Trump is rapidly ending it, while actively reminding the voters of the perverse priorities that produced it.
The fact that Trump’s been able to bring border crossings down 98% is proof that it was always mainly a matter of will — of wanting to do the right thing.
Republicans are fundamentally restoring normalcy and sanity, a process that’s often disruptive because the left’s twisted priorities have sunk so deep into our government.
Sane Americans don’t dare vote for the other party when Democrats’ principles lead to madness like “sanctuary” for killers and terrorists.
