Drivers across the country are now paying the highest price ever for diesel, as fresh data shows a litre of fuel now costs 199.18p.
Analysis from RAC Fuel Watch states that the price of diesel is now higher than the previous peak of 199.09p per litre seen in June 2022 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Since the start of the Iran-US war on February 28, diesel prices have jumped by 56.8p, or a staggering 40 per cent.
While petrol prices have not risen as quickly as diesel, they are still 41p more expensive now than in February, and 31.1 per cent higher.
Experts have called on the Government to reduce fuel duty to ensure drivers are not continually hammered at the pumps, as many struggle with the cost of living crisis.
A DESNZ spokesperson told GB News: "We have a diverse and resilient supply. We continue to engage with our international partners and the UK fuel industry."
