Diplo was “tripping” on LSD while appearing on CNN’s live New Year’s Eve broadcast Tuesday night.
The DJ, 46, stunned the show’s co-hosts, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, as he made the admission during a virtual interview from Los Angeles before performing at the historic Avalon Hollywood nightclub.
“I’m so curious. What’s the most conventional place that you’ve done LSD?” Cohen asked Diplo, who hesitated for only a second before chuckling and replying, “Right now.”
The “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” host, 56, shouted, “Right now?!” while Cooper, 57, doubled over with laughter from Times Square in New York City.
“Oh, my God. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on,” Cohen said as the political commentator began choking from cackling so hard.
“I’m not even lying,” Diplo chimed in.
Clearly in shock, the Bravo executive producer clarified, “You’re tripping right now?”
“Yeah,” the music producer nonchalantly responded. “I did some on the helicopter on the way here.”
Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, then explained that it was “a light trip” because he had been “microdosing” the psychedelic drug.
After the off-the-rails interview, Cohen told Cooper he admired their guest’s honesty.
“I wish I was Diplo, I’ve got to say,” he shared. “I just think he has a fun, cool lifestyle. Can you imagine his lifestyle? ‘I’m Diplo. I do things.'”
The “Anderson Cooper 360°” host, for his part, joked he has a “boring life compared to Diplo’s.”
