A Maine liberal journalist has admitted to falsely accusing a Donald Trump supporter of providing drugs and alcohol to a minor to get him fired from his job.
Chris J. Barry, 56, who goes by the moniker Crash Barry, confessed to making harassing phone calls to right-wing activist Nick Blanchard's place of work.
The two men appear to have a lengthy feud over their differing political views, including 35-year-old Blanchard's involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot and his local school board meetings protests.
Barry owned up to the fraudulent calls in a Substack post titled 'Mea Culpa,' claiming Blanchard's celebration of Trump's inauguration pushed him over the edge.
First, the journalist confessed that when he learned Blanchard was hired as a manager at a local Dunkin' Donuts, he decided to call to the establishment.
He did not divulge the details of the call but said, 'According to my source, the owner ran a background check on him and the job offer was subsequently withdrawn.'
Barry then admitted that Blanchard's posts on Inauguration Day infuriated him so much that he 'decided to teach the a**hole a lesson.'
'I wanted to teach the son-of-a-b***h a lesson. Give ‘em a taste of his own medicine, so to speak.'

He said he found out where Blanchard's new place of employment was and wrote a script to tell his manager.
'You tell Nick Blanchard to stay away from my underage daughter. He’s been feeding her Fireball shots and beer and gives her dabs. If I hear of him doing that again, I’ll send the Augusta cops to his work to take care of this,' the script said.
Barry claimed that when Blanchard arrived at work the next day, his boss delivered the message, and Blanchard called him crying.
He said Blanchard did not know he made the call, but Blanchard posted the phone number on Facebook, complaining that an unknown caller was spreading lies about him at work.
Comments on the post show his friends were able to connect the phone number to Barry.
'In retrospect, I shouldn’t have made the call. For several reasons. One: it ruined a perfectly good burner phone number — which I’ve now ditched. Also, I had better things to do this morning than write another Crash Report on this clown,' Barry said.
'That being said, I don’t regret my actions. I wanted Blanchard to know what it feels like when a stranger comes to your workplace and says mean stuff about you.'
Blanchard told The Maine Wire he is considering getting a protection from harassment order in light of Barry's confession.

Barry has written about Blanchard on his Substack before, including in a piece about a Christian singer Sean Feucht concert in May.
He pointed out that Blanchard was in attendance and commented on his role in the January 6 riot.

'Four years ago today, I was labeled a domestic terrorist and an insurrectionist, but I’m proud to say that I stood with what I believe was over a million pissed-off AMERICAN PATRIOTS to PEACEFULLY PROTEST A STOLEN ELECTION!!!'
