U.S. — Walt Disney Studios is running damage control ahead of its live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, reportedly hoping it's not too late to replace the controversial Rachel Ziegler with a less-hated actor like Kevin Spacey.
According to sources, Disney executives have already had several productive meetings with Spacey and are hoping to sign the actor right away if they can work out terms. "We already know he loves kissing men," Disney CEO Bob Iger told Entertainment Weekly. "So we're pretty confident wearing a dress and singing to CG dwarves isn't a bridge too far."
Director Marc Webb is reportedly excited for a chance to direct Kevin Spacey. "When I look at Kevin Spacey I really see someone who is 'fairest of them all.' It's a real improvement," he said. "I don't know why we didn't cast him in the first place. He's got such a commanding presence on set."
Spacey is reportedly eager to take on the role, viewing his last minute replacement of Ziegler akin to a similar situation in which he was replaced by Christopher Plummer in Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World. "Being cut from a completely finished film was devastating to me," he said. "Maybe replacing an actress in another movie will bring me peace."
At publishing time, Meghan Markle had also been confirmed as a possible replacement for Ziegler.
