A pediatric emergency doctor has shared a terrifying warning amid the festive season, after she revealed that a six-month-old baby was rushed to the hospital after he got drunk accidentally.

Meghan Martin, who goes by the username @beachgem10 on social media, recently posted a video to TikTok explaining the young boy had come to the hospital that she works at after parents noticed that he wouldn't wake up.

Meghan and her team ran a series of tests but struggled to find anything wrong with him - until they noticed that his blood alcohol level was double the legal limit.

'This boy was floppy,' the mom-of-four recalled in a the now-viral clip. 'They bought him right into the resuscitation room and we started getting vital signs.'

Dr. Martin said the boy was thankfully breathing fine and his other vital signs looked normal.

However, she noted that he was cold, with a body temperature of only 94 degrees, and his blood sugar levels were low, at 25, which she said was 'totally not normal.'

She explained her team tried to give him some sugar, but still, nothing changed.

'We get him over to a CAT scan, CAT scan is normal,' she continued. 'We ran all of the labs - we did it all.'

Whilst all of the boy's levels were starting to return to normal, the doctor said he still wasn't waking up.

'I'm asking mom more questions, he's got no past medical history, no meds, allergy shots up to date, no surgeries,' she shared.

Dr. Martin did note that the parents had a party the night before, with the mom saying he went to bed around 8pm, and woke up at 5am for a bottle and then slept for another couple of hours.

'And he kept on sleeping,' she retold. 'They woke up at 10 and he just would not wake up.'

The pediatric doctor said the next step after running the battery of tests was to do a lumbar puncture to check for meningitis.

'So I get my gloves, I'm ready to do the tap, I get consent from mom and then my nurse bursts in the doors, like, "Hold up, he's drunk,"' the baffled doctor recounted.

She said his blood alcohol level was 180, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Dr. Martin explained that his mom said she had made the bottle by combining formula and what she believed was water from a water bottle on the counter in the kitchen.

Dr. Martin urged people to be 'careful' as she added that they see a 'couple of cases' similar to this every year

Concerned viewers rushed to the comment section of the post, sharing their disbelief over the story

What she didn't know was that the water bottle actually contained vodka.

'Yeah, he had a vodka bottle,' the doctor shared. 'So, somebody the night before at the party had filled up a water bottle with vodka and left it on the counter.

'The mom thought it was water because it was clear and made the bottle - she was kind of sleepy and hadn't smelled it at all.'

According to Dr. Martin, they see a 'couple of cases' similar to this every year.

'The other thing we see is toddlers waking up after the party and there's a couple of cups left on the counter or on the table that have like spiked fruit punch and they drink it, and then they get really drunk and parents wake up and there's a drunk toddler,' she added.

'Please be careful putting alcohol in unlabeled containers like water bottles, which people can mistake for water,' she urged. 'Kids can accidentally drink it.'

Concerned viewers rushed to the comment section of the post, sharing their disbelief over the story.

'OH MY GOD. I mean it’s very possible things get mistaken for something else but yikes… glad baby boy is OK,' one user wrote.

'That is so so scary. I have an eight-month-old and I couldn’t even imagine,' another wrote.

'The way my mouth dropped to the floor as soon as I heard the vodka,' wrote someone else.

'Please be careful this holiday season,' Dr. Martin urged.
