DOGE Digs In, Finds “Truly Deranged Corruption” at Tiny Agency Where Employees “Lived Like Reigning Kings” on Taxpayer Dollars

On March 14, 2025, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) closed seven federal agencies for corruption. Luke Rosiak, who writes for the Daily Wire, exposed how Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) workers lived luxurious lives at the expense of the US taxpayer. He described how FMCS workers used federal funds to purchase self-portraits, jewelry, and even a BMW.

As a background, the FMCS was a small federal agency with only 230 employees designed to mediate between organized labor and businesses. The agency, which reported to the president, flew under the radar for years and effectively had no oversight. The FMCS office building, which housed only 60 employees, was nine stories tall and featured a full gym, individual bathrooms, and luxury suites.

Rosiak began his groundbreaking series of posts by exposing the federal agency for their absurd waste. He said, “FMCS existed as a slush fund for employees to live luxury lives. There was no expense they wouldn’t bill the government for. One employee charged the feds for his personal storage unit, used to store photo albums of his dog Buster, even after he retired.”

He continued his remarks and blasted the FMCS for using taxpayer money to line their own pockets. Rosiak added, “It steered $1,500-a-day contracts to friends, and jobs to relatives. Its employees “unblocked” abuse protections on their purchase cards and used them to spend $18,000 at a jewelry store, their wife’s cell phone, and cable at their vacation home.”

The journalist chronicled the most extreme corruption cases, justifying the need for agencies like DOGE. He concluded, “It used its office tower as a luxury lounge for employees, with an in-house gym, smoking lounge, and in-office showers. It listed its top employee as being on a six-year-long business trip to DC, so he’d have his rent & all meals paid for, just for showing up to work.”

Rosiak interviewed several FMCS employees in an article he wrote for the Daily Wire. One worker admitted they didn’t work very hard, which is why they stayed at the agency. This anonymous employee said that the FMCS spends more time discussing what they do than accomplishing anything.  Another explained how the leadership team acted “like they were reigning kings or something…I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

When the posts were made to X, users celebrated that federal bureaucrats were finally forced to take responsibility for their actions. One comment read, “Worth reading thread: DOGE found truly deranged corruption at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.”

Many people were enraged by the apparent waste and corruption. One user said, “This is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. The taxpayer paid for paintings of executives, for one to expense everything as if on a business trip for SIX YEARS, for a cigarette lounge, for a nine-story building for 60 people! And you exposed it A DECADE ago, yet nothing was done.”

Some readers couldn’t believe how much these scammers had taken from everyday Americans. Another noted, “U.S. taxpayers bleed dry while 60 gov fat cats live it up in a 9-story palace – why do 60 gov leeches need NINE floors? It’s all grift & graft on steroids, shamelessly siphoning our tax $ to stuff their pockets & their families. The wife’s ‘art’ is another taxpayer funded scam.”
