DOGE insider reveals the wildest government spending splurges in the sights of Elon's agency

A top Republican on the House DOGE caucus has revealed to DailyMail.com some jaw-dropping government projects that will be cut by Donald Trump's new initiative. 

The president-elect tasked Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy with cutting trillions in federal spending in the coming years using the newly developed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

And the pair have already been hard at work injecting their influence in to politics. 

Just before Christmas Musk used the bully pulpit of his app, X, to wage war against Republican Speaker Mike Johnson to destroy a massive, 1,547-page government funding bill. The bill was later revised to 116 pages. Then it was revised again.

The same mentality has invigorated a large portion of Congress, with members in the House and Senate propping up their own respective panels to aid DOGE in eliminating government bloat. 

House DOGE Caucus Co-Chair Aaron Bean, R-Fla., exclusively revealed to DailyMail.com some of the most egregious government waste projects federal workers are approving, many at massive costs to taxpayers. 

'We're giving cocaine to animals to see does it turn them transsexual?' the Republican lamented to DailyMail.com over the phone. He suggested similar government-funded studies need to be halted by DOGE.

'It just, it's the craziest thing that you would never spend your own money on. But when agencies have money to burn, they will spend money on literally everything.' 

The study in question, a decade old NIH experiment titled 'Cocaine induces state-dependent learning of sexual conditioning in male Japanese quail' to determine the sexual patterns of birds using cocaine. 

That study was given a U.S. taxpayer-funded grant worth $875,000. This nearly $1 million taxpayer-funded study found that cocaine use tends to lead to riskier sex, something many would say is common knowledge. 

A similar study to measure cocaine use in beagles was revealed by advocacy group White Coat Waste Project in recent years. That study received over $2.3 million dollars from the National Institute of Health. 

On the other side of Congress, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has also been touting ways to eliminate federal waste. 

He recently released his annual 'Festivus' report detailing ways to cut up to $1 trillion in waste. 

Paul's report highlighted another recent study done by New York University to examine cocaine use in rats was similarly awarded over $400,000 in federal dollars.

Other wasteful projects in the 'Festivus' report: A $10,000 for ice skating drag queens, a $12 million Las Vegas pickleball complex project and $108,000 for on a non-functioning, long-abandoned hotel in the Caribbean - all courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer.  

The official DOGE X account also highlighted various U.S. government spending projects, many of them absurd.

In addition to handing out grant money for ridiculous studies and remote, useless hotels, Bean told DailyMail.com other handouts, like subsidies, should be re-examined. 

'We subsidize wind and solar energy,' he said, adding 'It's crazy how much' the feds spend on propping up the alternative fuel sources.' 

'And we know they don't give us the bang for their buck as as fossil fuels do, including natural gas, which is cleaner, abundant, and that's going to be the key to energy independence.'

Government subsidies have also come under attack by Musk, who when visiting Capitol Hill earlier this month to tout DOGE's promise told reporters 'I think we should get rid of all credits' when asked about electric vehicle subsidies. 

Bean also told DailyMail.com that cutting social security is off the table. 'We're not going to cut social security checks,' he promised.

The Republican was also hopeful that the House DOGE Caucus will grow given the large turnout from the group's first meeting held the week before Christmas. 

Bean told DailyMail.com that 65 members out of the 435 total showed up to the initial session.

He applauded three 'brave' Democrats for showing up too, something he wants to see more of as cutting wasteful spending is a bipartisan interest, Bean says.

'What I'm focused on is creating that safe harbor where we can all feel trust, and where we can have a forum where we could work together.'
