A domestic helper in Hong Kong has been charged with child abuse after she was accused of scalding her employer’s one-year-old son with hot water.
A police spokesman said on Thursday the force had received a report from the mother of the child the day before.
Officers arrested a 43-year-old domestic helper in Ma On Shan on suspicion of child abuse or neglect on Wednesday.
She was later charged with one count of the offence and was scheduled to appear at Sha Tin Court on Friday.
The case is being handled by the Sha Tin district investigation team.
The incident came to light on Tuesday when the father posted a photo of the boy’s injured arm on social media, accusing the helper of harming the child as an act of revenge.
