Donald Trump Jr. expressed how “proud” he is of his daughter Kai Trump in a behind-the-scenes video from President Trump’s inauguration.
The 17-year-old posted a vlog Tuesday that gave viewers an inside glimpse of Inauguration Day at the United States Capitol.
In the YouTube video, Kai was waiting in a room before Monday’s swearing-in ceremony in Washington, DC, when she saw her dad and asked whether he wanted to “say something” to the camera.
“Yes, I want to say something,” Don Jr., 47, replied. “I love this little Smurf so much, and I’m so proud of her.”
The first son explained that he asked Kai at the last minute to speak at the Make America Great Again Victory Rally Sunday, and she “absolutely crushed it.”
“So, I’m very proud of her, and even if at her age dads are not cool, I don’t care. I love her so much,” he continued while giving her a kiss on the top of her head. “You’re the best, little Smurf.”
Kai echoed the sentiment and reminded her dad that they would be “dancing together” at the Liberty Ball later Monday night.
“We are dancing,” Don Jr. confirmed. “I don’t know that we’ve ever slow danced, so this could be pretty interesting.”
The teen pointed out that they “never slow danced” at a father-daughter dance growing up, so it would, in fact, be a first for them.
“We’re going to have two people with two left feet, so it’s gonna get interesting,” Don Jr. replied. “Kai is going to break out some of her breakdancing moves. It’s going to be awesome. She practices a lot at home.”
The University of Miami-bound student laughed at her father’s joke and quipped that she was going to do the “frat flick,” a move popular among fraternities in which members extend a finger to the beat of music.
“Please don’t do that one,” Don Jr. begged while laughing.
After the proud dad left the frame, one of his daughter’s friends called him a “chiller.”
“What a chill guy,” Kai reiterated.
Later in the vlog, Don Jr. appeared again when the father-daughter duo got ready to take the stage at the Liberty Ball, where he joked they were going to do “the worm.”
The camera then showed Don Jr. and Kai dancing together at two separate balls alongside his father and other family members.
However, Kai was not very complimentary of her dad’s moves and scored him a “two out of 10.”
“I was lost,” she admitted to the camera. “Don was a horrible dancer, by the way, horrible. Donny, if you’re watching this, buddy, take some dancing lessons. Like, it was bad.”
The golfer dazzled in a Sherri Hill silver beaded gown with a corset top and slit at the side and added silver strappy heels for Monday night’s celebrations.
Kai, who boasts nearly 800,000 followers on YouTube, shared other behind-the-scenes glimpses from the ceremony and also included clips of her getting ready, taking photos with her grandpa and enjoying the festivities from the weekend.
The teenager became a prominent member in the first family after giving a speech at the Republican National Convention in July 2024.
Don Jr. shares Kai with his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. The former couple, who divorced in 2018, also share sons Donald III, 15, Tristan, 13, Spencer, 12, and daughter Chloe, 10.
