Dozens of small boat migrants who were deported under the "one-in, one-out" deal have returned to the UK.
Nearly 50 asylum seekers that were returned to France made their way back to Britain after the scheme was brought into force from September.
Home Office figures show 1,087 (four per cent) of migrants were returned across the English Channel, from data from August 4 last year until June 30 earlier this year.
During that same time period, 27,920 asylum seekers made the illegal crossing on small boats.
But an unknown number have returned while staying undetected by authorities, The Guardian revealed.
Upon entering No10, Andy Burnham vowed to be “relentless” in handling the small boats crisis despite a staggering 2,000 migrants entered Britain during his first fortnight in power.
The Prime Minister insisted “progress is being made” but admitted there was “more to be done” while visiting Dover.
During his tenure so far, people smugglers have started to switch up tactics in a bid to dodge French and English authorities.

“The number of crossings is down by 50 per cent this year compared with the same period in 2025 and the month we've just had,” the Prime Minister said.
“July has been the lowest number for six years of people crossing, so clearly progress is being made. But we're not complacent.
“It's why I am here. It's why I've come down on Sunday to see the team, to listen to what they think needs to be done, what further can be done.
“So we're just going to be relentless,” he pledged.
