That’s one ludicrously capacious carry-on.
While making her way through JFK Airport to catch a flight Thursday, Dua Lipa carried a comically gigantic striped Chanel beach bag in lieu of luggage.
The $8,100 raffia accessory debuted on the runway during Matthieu Blazy’s cruise show for the French fashion house, which was shown in Biarritz in April. Lipa styled hers with a striped quarter-zip from the same collection, along with straight-leg jeans, heeled boots and dark sunglasses.
Measuring in at 22.8 x 27.6 x 7.9 inches, the “Don’t Start Now” singer’s XXL tote exceeds most major airlines’ approved carry-on dimensions; it’s unlikely the supersized sack would fit in the average overhead bin, let alone under the seat in front of Lipa’s.
“The only kind of excess baggage I fully support,” one fan commented on Instagram of the colossal carryall, while another joked, “That bag is carrying Dua.”
“Did it get its own seat?” a third asked.
All this begs the question: What could the music industry’s best-dressed vacationer possibly be stowing in that jumbo personal item? Below, our best guesses:
- 20 paperback novels (upcoming research for her book club, of course)
- 30 packets of Walkers prawn cocktail crisps (her favorite snack, apparently)
- Her Chanel Haute Couture wedding dress (maybe she hasn’t had time yet to get it cleaned and preserved?)
- A (desktop?!) computer and hard drive containing her top-secret new music
- Callum Turner (no explanation needed)
Bon voyage, Dua!
