The developers of EA FC 27 Ultimate Team have admitted there was a major “sentiment shift” among players during last year’s mode.

While Career Mode and Clubs have their dedicated players, Ultimate Team is the EA FC series’ golden goose. Millions of players log in every single year looking to build the squad of their dreams using the biggest soccer stars from the past and present.

But in EA FC 26, some die-hard players weren’t satisfied with how the mode was handled. Many content creators and big names in the community criticized how the gameplay evolved over the season, as well as the content that dropped every Friday.

Now, the devs have acknowledged the reception to last year’s FUT and insist they’re looking to address the problems this time around.

FC 27 devs understand FC 26 Ultimate Team’s poor reception

“I think it’s fair to say that FC 26 started out with a lot of really positive momentum,” Senior Lead Game Product Manager, Jamey Cane, told Dexerto at a preview event. “But amongst a core group of players, the ones you hear most vocal on social media, there was definitely a sentiment shift.”

He went on to say that they heard the complaints about uninteresting content and even the lack of communication between the dev team and the community.

“We’d drawn a line in the sand and said we were going to communicate better with players at the start of the year. We just didn’t deliver on those promises,” Cane added.

“That’s something we’re looking to address as we get into FC 27. [We want to] action some of that feedback that those core players were telling us was leading to them being more frustrated and not engaging with the title as much.”

With this “two-pronged approach” of addressing some of the biggest criticisms levelled at EA FC 26 Ultimate Team and being more open with the community, the devs hope that FC 27’s version will meet fan expectations.

One of the biggest additions in this year’s mode is the FUT Gallery, which brings a new grading system for all cards and special signed items to collect.
