EA SPORTS FC 27 has been officially revealed, and it’s set to include a brand-new open world that fans can explore.

EA drops a new soccer game every year without fail, and each one brings a squad update as well as a handful of fresh features. But one addition that fans have been desperate to see that never materialized was an open world section, similar to the multiplayer hubs seen in 2K’s NBA series.

Well, that’s all about to change, as the first trailer for EA FC 27 has confirmed that an open world area is finally coming.

The Grounds open world officially revealed for FC 27

First seen in the Standard Edition cover and shown in the reveal trailer, this open world is called The Grounds, and it will serve as a social hub where you can meet up with fellow players and invite your friends.

It appears as though you will control a created Pro player while in this space, although it’s unclear if this is the same avatar used in Pro Clubs.

Within The Grounds, there are multiple districts and plenty of different activities and minigames, as there are different pitches scattered around.

What’s unclear is if this is its own standalone mode or will replace the main home screen and act as the game’s menu. If this is the case, there will be ways to access Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Pro Clubs all from this one central hub.

As you’d expect, it’s also likely to be packed full of nods and Easter eggs to find, as the first teaser alone showed references to Ted Lasso, as well as Alex Hunter from The Journey mode, which hasn’t been seen since FIFA 19.

Taking more cues from NBA 2K’s mode, there will also be customization options for your player as well, such as new outfits and boots.

It’s also been confirmed that the Collection Book feature will return in FC 27, this time called the Gallery.
