Newly released surveillance footage has provided a vital clue in the search for Sebastian Rogers.
The 15-year old boy from Tennessee has been missing since February last year.
Video obtained by private investigator Steve Fischer, working with Sebastian's mother and stepfather, shows a figure appear at 12.17am on the night of his disappearance.
The footage is from a street located a single block from Sebastian's Sumner County home, prompting investigators to believe it may hold critical information.
The surveillance footage also captured a dog walker passing by shortly before the unidentified figure.
'It's definitely a person,' said Fischer. 'It looks like a thin person wearing dark clothing walks down south on Kellyn Lane behind a vehicle. And it appears like he or she is trying to stay out of eyesight of the person walking their dog.
'They go behind this car for a little while then they turn around and come back the same way they came from.'
The block is adjacent to a construction site where search dogs had previously indicated a potential lead.
Private investigator Fischer, who enhanced the video for clarity, confirmed that it has been passed on to law enforcement.

He acknowledged, however, that identifying the figure is unlikely.
'It took three times watching all the video, before we found that,' said Fischer.
The Sumner County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), which is working with the TBI and FBI, maintains there have been no confirmed sightings or significant leads in Sebastian Rogers' disappearance.
Sheriff Eric Craddock said: 'Law enforcement has had possession of the original video since 72 hours after Sebastian was reported missing.
'After thoroughly investigating this lead, we determined that it has no relevance to the case.'
This contrasts with private investigator Fischer's belief that the footage holds potential clues.
Notably, SCSO did not address whether the figure in the video was identified.
The search for Rogers has gained national attention, with Duane 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' even hopping on the case.

The Denver-born TV personality, 71, told the Nashville ABC affiliate WKRN in September that he and his associates will conduct a probe independent of police, re-examine details already gathered and chase down new leads.
'This is one of the most horrendous cases of missing children that we've ever, ever worked on,' Chapman told the station of the vanishing of Rogers, a 15-year-old native of Hendersonville.
Last March, Rogers's father confirmed that the newly emerged mysterious picture is indeed his son and holds a clue about his disappearance.
The mysterious picture, which was taken by a woman at the rest stop near a visitors' center in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, shows a man who very strongly resembles Sebastian.
The woman later turned the picture into the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations and her friend posted the picture online.
Days after the photograph began circulating social media, Seth Rogers, the teen's biological father, told NewsNation that 'he believes it is his son and he is across state lines'.
