Egypt welcomes the ceasefire in Lebanon which came into effect Wednesday morning, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The statement noted that Egypt "stresses that this step will contribute to the beginning of the de-escalation phase in the region."
Egypt further added that "this agreement should be a prelude to stopping the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip" in addition to "the necessity of reaching an immediate ceasefire."
