An elderly Hong Kong taxi driver suffered back and neck pains after accelerating his vehicle down a 10-metre (33-foot) slope in Sai Kung.
The 66-year-old male driver, surnamed Wu, managed to climb back up after the accident. No passengers were on board his taxi.
Police said they received a report at 12.24pm on Saturday about a taxi slipping down a 10-metre slope in Sai Kung when it reached Sai Kung Sai Wan Road, near the High Island Reservoir.
“The driver pressed the accelerator pedal instead while he intended to apply the brake,” a police spokeswoman said.
She said no passengers were in the taxi and the driver was safe.
“He climbed out of the taxi himself and told police he had neck and back pain, and asked police to call an ambulance for him for treatment,” she said.
