An elderly woman with health issues has been found by rescuers in a rural area in Hong Kong after going missing for five days.
The 65-year-old left her flats in Wan Hang House at Wan Tau Estate in Tai Po on Thursday and did not return.
The Post learned that the woman was initially scheduled for a clinic appointment on Thursday morning but missed it.
Security footage showed her leaving the building in a thin short-sleeved top, raising concerns about how she managed to survive over the past few days, especially as the weather had turned cold.
Her son began searching for her and on Monday went to Wun Yiu Road, about 700 metres from their home, to ask if villagers had seen her.
He discovered security footage capturing a woman who resembled his mother. He then informed police.
By Tuesday morning, a large search was mounted, involving more than 200 people, including dozens of personnel from police, fire services and the Civil Aid Service.
