Elon Musk has accused Google of election interference for showing voters where they can vote for Kamala Harris, but not for Donald Trump.

The billionaire CEO raised concern on his X platform after followers complained.

The situation came up after a voter on their phone typed into Google: "Where can I vote for Kamala Harris?" to which Google responded with a map showing the nearest polling station.

However, when searching "Where can I vote for Donald Trump?", no such map appeared.

Others echoed his comments and said it was proof of left-leaning big tech interfering with the outcome of the nail-biter election.

Most of the obstacles voters faced tended to be more prosaic: long lines, paper jams, and power outages. Slow-updating computer software delayed voters in Louisville, Kentucky, a local official told Reuters. In rural Pennsylvania, a computer software glitch meant some ballots could not be immediately tabulated, officials there said.

In St. Clair County in Alabama, some ballots had to be reprinted after officials discovered some were missing local and state amendment questions, the county said on its website.

Cait Conley, a senior official at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency urged Americans to stay on guard as the vote counting got underway.

He said: "We do have foreign adversaries with two objectives, one to undermine the American people's confidence in our democratic institutions, and the second to sow partisan discord and so we should expect to continue to see narratives around those types of objectives, both today and in the days and weeks to come."

Trump himself conceded that his team does not expect an election result tonight.

Another former President, Barack Obama posted on social media: "It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either. So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today.

"Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them. Thank them.

"Don’t share things before checking your sources. Let the process run its course. It takes time to count every ballot."
