Eric Trump, the second son of President-elect Donald Trump, told The Post this week his father has a long to-do list ready for his White House return in mid-January — and is more likely to complete it thanks to his critics.
“I mean think about it,” said the 40-year-old Trump, a key member of the president-elect’s transition council. “If he had won in 2020, we wouldn’t have the Senate like we do now. We may not have had the House either. He may have been stuck in this lame-duck wasteland. It’s been an incredibly difficult time getting here for him and our entire family. But he’s here now. They didn’t want him in 2020, and so they get him now. Be careful what you wish for.”
The expected fruits of the hard-won GOP victory at the ballot box this year are many — but one item tops that to-do list.
“End the wars,” said Trump when asked what his father will prioritize. “Right now, our leaders are allowing Ukraine to shoot missiles into the heart of Russia — a nuclear power. And we’re paying for it. Does anyone actually think that’s a good idea? No. He wants to end the wars. He’s going to end the wars. That’s the day-one priority.”
The president-to-be’s son has no official title in the new administration, but the younger Trump has become a nearly omnipresent adviser to the elder.
And there’s plenty to advise on.
“Peace is the first goal,” Trump told The Post. “But beyond that we have a full platform we’ve been working out, and we’re prepared to enact it very quickly. You’re going to see immigration get cracked down on. The walls will be built. Laws will be enforced. And our military will be rebuilt and continue to be the most lethal fighting force on the planet.”
Enacting any of those would be a substantial win for the new Republican majority in DC, but the Trump Organization executive vice president says there’s one other issue personally close to his father’s heart.
“I can’t tell you how obsessed he is with stopping fentanyl from hurting these kids,” Trump said. “He talks about it constantly. He and I know so many people who have lost family, lost children to this one awful drug. We’re angry. He’s angry. I wouldn’t want to be those cartels or drug manufacturers right now.”
The transition team’s theme is “speed and efficiency” according to Trump, as his father and Republicans have called their shots — and aimed them at some of America’s most existential issues.
