Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores have been hit with fresh federal charges stemming from the alleged torture of Americans jailed in the South American country.

Manhattan federal prosecutors announced the new conspiracy to commit torture raps against the toppled dictator and his wife minutes before a scheduled hearing over whether to place Flores under house arrest pending the couple’s summer 2027 trial.

Maduro and his wife were already charged with narcoterrorism conspiracy after being captured by the US military in a daring late-night raid Jan. 3 on the presidential compound in Caracas.

They have pleaded not guilty and are being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
