The email of the Democratic nominee for Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District, Zach Dembo, was found linked to an Ashley Madison account; however, his team says he has no clue how it got there.
Dembo, a former Navy Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG) officer and federal prosecutor, has his name and email shared on the Kentucky Bar Association website. This email is also found using a tool that searches emails used to create accounts on the infamous adultery hookup website Ashley Madison. (RELATED: Democrats Go For Kamala Coup Part Two In Maine)
In 2015, as many as 37 million emails allegedly used to create Ashley Madison accounts were released by a group of hackers known as “The Impact Team.”
“Find yourself in here?” the team asked upon releasing the leak. “Learn your lesson and make amends. Embarrassing now, but you’ll get over it.”
A search tool created by the same person who, two years earlier, built a website that allowed Adobe users to verify whether their accounts were secure shows that Dembo’s email, as shared by the Kentucky Bar Association, was found among the leaked emails.
However, the website designer notes that Ashley Madison did not validate account email addresses, adding that “it is quite possible someone else accidentally or deliberately registered using your email address rather than their own.”
He also said that people with common names are more prone to having their email used without their knowledge.
This appears to be the explanation Dembo’s campaign is using, as a spokesperson told the Daily Caller, “Zach has never used this website. If someone created an account with his email, he was completely unaware.”
Dembo was not married until 2022.
In 2017, Dembo completed his service as a JAG officer with the Navy before joining the Trump administration as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division, where he remained until 2020.
Dembo later took a role in the Biden administration as an assistant U.S. attorney in 2021 but stepped down during the first year of President Donald Trump’s second term, just in time to run for Congress on the Democratic ticket. He said he left after watching the department “get turned into the President’s personal law firm.”
Besides running on fighting alleged DOJ corruption, Dembo began this Pride Month by telling the LGBTQ community in his district that, “I stand with you, and I’ll keep fighting for you in this race and beyond.”
Although Dembo’s email was tied to a website that facilitates infidelity, his website says he also wants to “make sure we are truly a pro-family country” by supporting increased access to abortion through codifying Roe v. Wade and the creation of universal pre-K and affordable child care.
