A traditional Chinese medicine expert has lifted the lid on the body parts you should be massaging every day to help improve your mental health, sleep schedule and organs.

Nina Cheng is the founder of The Eastern Philosophy - a small business that specializes in herbal medicines and frequently shares educational videos about traditional Chinese health remedies on TikTok.

After finding a flood of success online, Nina is now set to release her first book, titled Chinese Medicine for the Mind, which will hit shelves on November 19.

In an exclusive excerpt shared with DailyMail.com, the small business owner detailed how you can improve your body from the comfort of your home.

She revealed that massaging certain areas around your head and legs can help transform your health and even improve your sleeping patterns.

The exclusive excerpt notes that acupressure offers up a slew of health benefits.

'We focus on points that are known to calm the mind, relax the body and promote overall relaxation. Simply press on these points or massage them using your hands, a gua sha tool, or an acupressure stick, pressing for about two minutes until you feel relaxed and calm,' Nina revealed.

The first area she recommended you massage is your Anmian, which is found behind your ear.

'Anmian, which means "peaceful sleep," is one of the most significant extra points for insomnia. It is found behind the ear, below the bony mastoid process, in a small depression.

'Circular pressure here will ease tension and can also alleviate tension in the neck and shoulders that inhibits relaxation,' the excerpt noted.

The next area of your body to massage is near your foot and is known as the Taixi.

This area, which is found between the Achilles tendon and height of the ankle bone, can improve your kidney function.

Nina explained: '[The Taixi] is the source point of the kidney, which means it has a direct effect on the organ.'

Placing a firm amount of pressure on this point in your body can have a 'nourishing' and 'calming' effect on your kidney.

The next area of your body is known as the Sanyinjiao and is said to benefit your spleen, liver and kidney.

The exclusive excerpt shared with DailyMail.com reads: '[The] Sanyinjiao is found one hand's width above the ankle bone, in the inside of the lower leg. There is a depression there that is often sensitive to pressure.

Heal your organs! The four areas you should massage

  • Anmian: Behind the ear
  • Taixi: Between the Achilles tendon and height of the ankle bone
  • Sanyinjiao: Inside the lower leg
  • Yintang: Between the eyebrows

'This point is strongly indicated for any menstrual pain, and can also ease tension and calm an overactive, worried, irritable, or even fearful state that inhibits sleep.

'As the meeting of three yin channels, the emotions attributed to the spleen, liver and kidney can all benefit from firm, pulsing pressure here.'

Lastly, Nina suggested you massage the point between your eyebrows on the daily.

In her book, she wrote: 'Yintang is an extra point found above and between the eyebrows. It is one of the most relaxing points, promoting a sense of calm and quieting an overactive mind.

'Stroking downward will also help direct the qi downward and induce a state of ease.'

According to VeryWellHealth, massaging these pressure points can help improve circulation and reduce inflammation and anxiety.

The site noted that putting firm pressure on these areas for around one to three minutes can transform your health.

Nina's book, Chinese Medicine for the Mind, hits shelves on November 19.
