French electronic music producer DJ Kavinsky was found dead in his home in Paris Tuesday at the age of 50.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. Authorities have launched an investigation, though they have not reported any indication of foul play at this time, according to Variety. The Paris prosecutor’s office also said first responders “found no suspicious elements at the scene,” according to Reuters.
Kavinsky wrote the 2010 single “Nightcall,” made famous by the movie “Drive”, featuring Ryan Gosling.
“Nightcall” catapulted Kavinsky’s career on a worldwide scale. He produced the hit alongside Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk, with vocals from Lovefoxxx.
Kavinsky performed the hit song at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games closing ceremony.
The talented artist was born Vincent Belorgey in Seine-Saint-Denis in 1975. He began his career in entertainment as an actor before his passion for arcade games and sports cars ignited his fictional persona of Kavinsky, a driver who came back to life after a fatal Ferrari crash to create electronic music.
