Fans got a first look at actor Jeremy Allen White portraying Bruce Springsteen in a forthcoming biopic, raising questions over the The Bar star's resemblance to the iconic musician.

A photo released Monday by 20th Century Studios shows White, 33, sporting a leather jacket over a flannel button-down for the film Deliver Me From Nowhere, which is slated for release in 2025.

While the Golden Globe winner may have captured Springsteen's brooding look, users on social media insisted he doesn't look anything like the rocker.

'I'm sorry, I love JAW and I'm sure he'll do great, but he looks nothing like Bruce Springsteen and I think this is such a weird casting choice,' one user on X wrote.

Deliver Me From Nowhere centers on Springsteen creating his 1982 album Nebraska.

During the early eighties, The Boss was known for his simple and classic style and would often wear jeans, flannels, t-shirts, and leather jackets.

White mimicking Springsteen's style choices in the photo wasn't enough to convince many that he is the right person to portray the Born in the USA singer.

Some on social media claimed the image showed nothing but 'Jeremy Allen White in a plaid shirt.'

'So Jeremy Allen White as… Jeremy Allen White… in denim,' one X user wrote.

'Still looks like Jeremy Allen White wearing a Bruce Springsteen outfit,' another added.

yet another wrote: 'This is the most Jeremey Allen White that Jeremy Allen White has ever looked.'

Other social media users were nonetheless excited to see White playing Springsteen.

Several X users insisted White looks nothing like Springsteen

'Excited to see Jeremy Allen White bring Bruce Springsteen to life! Can't wait for the film to hit theaters!,' one X user posted

Another claimed that the actor can 'bring intense' to the role.

'I can see it. He has that kinda rugged "ugly handsome" look about him that Brue had in his youth,' yet another wrote.

Some users were excited to see White portray Springsteen in Deliver Me From Nowhere

Deliver Me From Nowhere was adapted from a book of the same name written by Warren Zane. The film's writer and director, Scott Cooper, called the production an 'incredibly humbling and thrilling journey.'

'The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life's trials and resilience resonates deeply with me,' Cooper said in a statement to Variety

'Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes' compelling narrative of Bruce's life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce's legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.'

Filming will primarily take place in locations throughout New York and New Jersey, but occasional scenes will be shot in Los Angeles.

Allen's co-stars include Jeremy Strong, Odessa Young, and Stephen Graham.

Allen had been a 'top choice' to portray Springsteen. His involvement in the film was officially confirmed in April 2024

The Bear actor was a 'top choice' to play Springsteen, and was confirmed as the film's lead in April.

White revealed to Deadline last month how 'excited' he was to star in the film.

'I can say I've got a really beautiful team of people helping me and Bruce has been really lovely and supportive and available, which has made this whole process an extra joy,' White said.

Springsteen discussed the upcoming biopic earlier this month, saying he felt good about the 'whole project.'

'I've seen the scripts and I've talked to the director,' Springsteen said.

'They're just putting it all together, so I don't have an awful lot to say about it, but I'm excited about it happening.'
