Fauci’s Diary Reveals His Favorite Subject Was Anthony Fauci

A common theme throughout Dr. Anthony Fauci’s pandemic-era diary is his own infatuation with himself, which grew as the coronavirus public health crisis worsened.

Republican Kentucky Senator Rand Paul released the contents of Dr. Fauci’s personal diary as part of an active Senate Homeland Security oversight investigation into the former National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director.

While the diary includes notable contradictions between what Fauci said about the Covid-19 pandemic in public and what he knew in private, it also reveals that Fauci’s interest in himself never waned, according to the trove of diary entries spanning from 2019-2022.

The diary discusses health data, public policy discussions, the White House Task Force and Fauci staying up to date with his own public persona as he dominated headlines and reveled in being a household name.

Early on in the pandemic, Fauci recounted that during a White House Task Force meeting in the Situation Room, President Donald Trump addressed him in front of everyone as “really a famous guy… the smartest, knowledgeable and outstanding persons he knows.”

Throughout the diary, Fauci kept tabs on what media outlets were reporting about him, writing “multiple media reporting with several clips of me” early on in January 2020 and eventually “Nice Profiles of me in Politico and NY Times today” as the pandemic picked up and grew more problematic by March.

Similar entries piled up on a consistent basis between March and April of 2020, concurrent with the total Covid-19 death counts.

“For better or worse, I am becoming an international celebrity. Calls from all over the world,” he wrote around the same timeframe.

Fauci’s diary also included a picture of himself on seemingly patriotically decorated donuts:

Additionally, he inserted a Washington Post article titled “Fauci socks, Fauci doughnuts, Fauci fan art: The coronavirus expert attracts a cult following,” according to the files.

“It is not hyperbole to say that today I am the most famous and talked about person in the country and one of the most recognizable persons in the world,” he concluded on March 21, 2020.

Other instances of his self-adulation include him taking note of his temporary mark on pop culture, such as having his own bobble-heads, petitions to nominate him as “Sexiest Man Alive,” fan-made swag, “grandmothers who have crushes” on him and much more media buzz.

Fauci saved an article that reported on an Instagram Live stream he had with NBA star Steph Curry.

He also vented about worries that there were people after him and his family.

“Threats on the “dark web” abainst [sic] me, Chris and the girls. They know everything about us including where my daughters live and work. Strange people hanging around my house and taking photos of the house,” another March 2020 entry read.

Dr. Fauci will testify next Wednesday in front of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee after being subpoenaed.

The subject matter of these conversations is likely to concern the origins of COVID-19, gain-of-function research funding overseas, relevant documentation, and other issues from Fauci’s tenure as NIAID director.

Paul has been targeting Dr. Fauci regarding the origins of COVID-19 for years, demanding the declassification of official COVID-era documents and communications connected to Fauci. The two have verbally sparred at congressional hearings over Fauci’s alleged suppression of the Wuhan lab leak theory.
