One of the FBI’s most wanted suspected terrorists has been nabbed hiding out in the UK after more than 20 years on the run, the feds said Tuesday.
Daniel Andreas San Diego, 46, was busted in Wales on Monday in connection with a slew of animal rights-related pipe bomb attacks that unfolded in San Francisco back in 2003, according to authorities.
“Daniel San Diego’s arrest after more than 20 years as a fugitive for two bombings in the San Francisco area shows that no matter how long it takes, the FBI will find you and hold you accountable,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement hailing his capture.
“There’s a right way and a wrong way to express your views in our country, and turning to violence and destruction of property is not the right way.”
San Diego has long been accused of setting off two homemade pipe bombs on Aug. 28, 2003, at Chiron Corp. — a biotech company in Emeryville.
He then allegedly sent a bomb strapped with nails that exploded at Shaklee Corp. — a nutritional company — in Pleasanton, on Sept. 26, 2003.
The feds allege he targeted the two companies because they were linked to a lab that had conducted animal experiments.
San Diego, who was described by the feds as having ties to animal rights extremist groups, was put on the FBI’s most wanted terrorist list in 2009.
At one point, they were offering a $250,000 reward for his capture.
