Fight Breaks Out At Costco Over Pokémon Cards, And I Don’t Know How To Feel About It

On one hand, I view these people as idiots. On the other, I understand the hype with Pokémon.

Wild video shows people fighting it out in a Costco in order to grab a piece of the new Pokémon card collection, with one guy getting popped in the face with an elbow while scrappin’ it out with a fellow customer. Employees tried to break things up and get it back at a peaceful level, but the shoppers weren’t going for it. The incident happened at Atwater Village in Los Angeles.

A representative of Costco who works at the location told TMZ that employees responded to the consumers fighting in the rush for profit (we’ll get to that here in a moment). Luckily, no one was seriously hurt in the fight. Police weren’t contacted, no arrests have been made and Costco is dealing with everything internally.

This is ridiculous. Costco should’ve handled it better and kept them at the register. Let the worker hand the stock to the person after they pay for it.

The Pokémon cards that they’re fighting over are the 151 Blooming Waters Premium Collection, valued at $120-150 online. At Costco, they’re being sold for less than $60, so in other words, there’s a ton of money to be made when it comes to reselling.

So as a hustler myself, I get it, but man, do we have to look so ignorant in the process? And over a huge part of my childhood?!
