Watch a preview of the ABC first responder drama, as enough insects are released to kill 44 thousand people.
They've dealt with earthquakes, a tsunami, cruise ship catastrophes, and even escaped zoo animals. But in the season 8 premiere, the firefighters of 9-1-1 will face something they've never seen before: 22 million killer bees released upon Los Angeles.
"We just wanted to generate some buzz," 9-1-1 co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear jokes to Entertainment Weekly of the decision for the season-opening disaster on his ABC first responder drama.
In a first-look preview clip exclusive to EW (above), boxes carrying the bees are seen tipping over in a truck accident and 911 call center dispatcher Josh (Bryan Safi) tells Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) that there are enough of the insects on the loose to kill 44 thousand people. (A previously released season 8 teaser stated that "the average person cannot survive 500 bee stings.")

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Really a "bee-nado", they are taking plot lines from 50 years ago.
Bees never bothered me as a kid, it was the hornets and wasps. There was a big hornets nest on the outside vent of the garage of the house, got the the garden spray hose and sprayed it with water and it disintegrated.
Insect lovers flame away.

Dreadful show. Dull cast. The action crawls like a snail. Plus some weirdo characters. Unwatchable.

Yet again, another first-responder drama show. How many cop shows, fireman shows, lifeguard shows, ER doctor shows have there been. Sorry, the mind rebels.

My daughter is a paramedic. Her husband is a state trooper.
Watching both 911 and Lonestar with them is fun. They see them as comedies.
We especially like the complete lack of union contracts when it comes to assignments, shifts, and promotions.
The writers clearly find the most absurd stories on the internet and work them into the same firehouse in Austin.
