A man is fighting for his life after being attacked with a corrosive substance in a Devon seaside town - with five people arrested in connection with the incident.
The man, in his 30s, suffered potentially life-changing injuries following the chemical attack in Paignton during the early hours of Thursday, November 21.
Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that five local residents have been arrested on various charges related to the incident, and have subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police say two men approached the victim at around 1.10am on Victoria Street and allegedly proceeded to throw a chemical substance at him.

Another woman from the same town, 43, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
The fifth arrest involved a 22-year-old man, who was detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Police have confirmed that all individuals involved in the incident are believed to be known to each other.

The investigation remains active, with officers carrying out detailed enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the attack.
