One of the students wounded in a California school shooting has been identified as a kindergartener named Elias.
Elias, just five-years-old, was shot through the chest and abdomen at the Feather River Seventh-Day Adventists school Wednesday afternoon, according to a verified GoFundMe page posted by his grandparents.
“The bullet went through his chest and abdomen, piercing and nicking multiple organs before exiting,” little Elias’ grandparents, Monte and Debbie Wolford wrote. “He was airlifted to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to stop the bleeding.
“He is currently sedated and on a ventilator in PICU, awaiting additional surgery. Though in critical condition, he is stable at the moment.”
Elias was just one of two students – the other also a kindergartener who is six-years-old – wounded during the shooting. The other victim is also in critical but stable condition.
The shooter, and adult male, died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His motive remains unclear.
Feather River — a school of just 33 students — is located outside of Palermo and about 45 miles north of Sacramento.
