Florida Leftist Convicted of Attacking ICE, Faces Two Decades in Prison

The Department of Justice is finally cracking down in a major way on leftists who have attacked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol officers as they go about doing their jobs, as shown by the recent conviction of fifteen ICE-obstructing Antifa members and another conviction of a Florida woman who attacked ICE on her own.

Such is what the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced in a press release, noting that “Jennifer Susan Cruz (41, Jacksonville) has pleaded guilty to assaulting officers conducting an immigration operation.” While there as, has yet, been no sentencing date set, the convicted Florida leftist faces a full two decades in prison, at the maximum.

That’s when the DOJ started explaining what had happened, noting that in January of 2026, federal immigration officers who were working with the Florida Highway Patrol were working on locating illegal aliens in Jacksonville when Cruz drove by, recording on her cellphone.

Then, as the DOJ noted, “Cruz parked near the site of the traffic stop and yelled at the trooper as she continued to record. Immigration officers subsequently determined that the two occupants of the vehicle they had pulled over were illegally present in the United States.” A trooper approached Cruz and questioned her use of her cellphone while she was operating a motor vehicle, which is unsafe.

Cruz then started castigating the trooper and insisting that all ICE troopers are “Nazis”. That exchange, in turn, led to a feud over her driver’s license: “The trooper asked Cruz for her driver license and she stated that she did not have it but that she had a photograph of it on her cellphone. Cruz showed the trooper the photo of her license and the trooper told Cruz to remain in her vehicle while he conducted further investigation. A records check revealed that Cruz’s license was suspended as of June 17, 2025. Because Cruz’s license was suspended, the trooper requested a tow truck to impound Cruz’s vehicle, as she was not legally authorized to operate it.”

That, in turn, led to a police chase of Cruz’s vehicle, as she drove away and had to be boxed in by other patrol vehicles, and Cruz being made to exit the vehicle so that her car could be towed away. After she got out of the car, Cruz started trying to fight: “Cruz exited the vehicle but immediately became verbally hostile and repeatedly refused to surrender the keys despite multiple directives to do so. In response to the trooper’s directives, Cruz said that she was “ready to go” and, when asked, stated that she meant that she was ready to fight.”

She did so, punching an officer when he tried to get her keys, and kicking them as they took her down: “When a trooper attempted to retrieve the keys from Cruz, Cruz struck the trooper in the face with a closed fist. Multiple officers then converged on Cruz to arrest her for the assault. Cruz resisted arrest, including by attempting to strike and kick the officers. As Cruz continued to struggle, officers carried her to an FHP patrol vehicle. While doing so, she attempted to kick the trooper whom she had punched.”

Concluding, the statement provided, “As officers were attempting to place Cruz inside the vehicle, she kicked at an ICE officer, a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent, and the trooper who had conducted the traffic stop. She struck the CBP agent and the ICE officer, whose left hand was injured. During the attempt to place Cruz in the patrol vehicle, the trooper deployed his taser, which did not subdue her. Officers eventually secured Cruz in the patrol vehicle, but she continued kicking at the vehicle’s windows, roof, and in-car camera.”

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, commenting on the matter, said, “This is Jennifer Cruz of Jacksonville. Jennifer disagrees with immigration enforcement and decided to commit a few felonies by getting out of her car and punching a Trooper in the face. But unlike Minnesota, we don’t put up with this nonsense. Not today, Jennifer.”
