A Florida woman given the nickname “Black Widow” by cops is accused of targeting men on dating apps for their money and intentionally drugging them.
Samantha Adams, 39, is facing attempted murder charges after she allegedly spiked the drink of a 69-year-old man she met on an app with Benzos — which landed him in the hospital days later, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
Investigators believe Adams intentionally mixed Benzodiazepine into the victim’s drink while at his home in Haines City last month, according to the arrest affidavit.
The man 30 years her senior also believes his younger lover may have tried to poison him on at least three other occasions at her Orange County residence.
Investigators launched a probe into Adams on Aug. 20 after the victim reported he had been admitted to the hospital three days prior for an “unexpected medical incident.”
The older bachelor, who has not been identified, felt “there were suspicious circumstances that led up to his medical problem,” the sheriff’s office said.
The pair had gotten into an argument about a vehicle that the victim had purchased for Adams, he told police.
Sometime after the argument, the femme fatale went into the kitchen while carrying her purse and returned to the victim with two glasses of whiskey.
The victim drank from one of the glasses and things between the pair “progressed romantically,” the arresting documents said.
The man said their intimacy escalated before Adams abruptly stopped and demanded he pay her $1,000 to continue.
He refused and then left Adams’ home.
Later in the night, the victim passed out and was transported to the hospital, where medical staff determined he had suffered a Benzo overdose.
The victim, however, said he does not have any Benzodiazepine medication.
Prior to his hospitalization, the victim described previous suspicious incidents while drinking alcohol with Adams.
After taking a shot with the woman at her home sometime in August, the victim said he became unsteady and fell.
In another incident last month, the victim passed out in his vehicle while leaving Adams’ home.
The 69-year-old also reported an Aug. 15 incident where he felt groggy leaving Adams’ residence and backed into a vehicle.
During each occasion, the victim said he had only consumed a small amount of alcohol.
Investigators also discovered that someone had tampered with the man’s home security system. He had previously seen Adams in the area of his home where the surveillance system is kept, he told cops.
The older man first met Adams on a dating app where she went by the name “Nala” — which cops were able to trace the account back to the 39-year-old.
Investigators believe there may be other people who have been victimized by Adams.
“If you meet this woman online, beware. We call her the ‘Black Widow,’” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a Facebook video.
“Her motivation is money, and as we have seen with this case, she is willing to go to great lengths to get money — including [attempted] murder,” Grady added.
The “Black Widow” was arrested on Aug. 27 at a shopping center in Davenport, Fla., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.
At the time of her arrest, she was found with a stash of medication contained in a bottle prescribed to someone else.
The prescription bottle contained 19 Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen pills, two-and-a-half oxycodone hydrochloride pills, nine Sertraline pills, one partial pill of Adderall, and one partial pill of Alprazolam/Xanax.
Adams was slapped with a slew of charges, including second-degree attempted murder, tampering with evidence, offering to commit prostitution, as well as possession of prescription drugs including oxycodone, hydrocodone and alprazolam.
