Foreign tourist attacked by bear near Lake Towada in north-eastern Japan

TOKYO – A male foreign tourist was attacked by a bear near an observation deck overlooking Lake Towada in Japan, a popular tourist spot, in the north-eastern prefecture of Aomori, local authorities said on Aug 22.

The man, whose right arm was bitten by the bear, was airlifted to a hospital but was able to communicate, according to the city of Towada and the local fire department.
