Former HGTV star Nicole Curtis has spoken out for the first time about being named in a new lawsuit that is unrelated to her show's cancelation over a racial slur.
The 49-year-old, along with her business Detroit Renovations LLC, was listed in a lawsuit brought by the City of Detroit for civil nuisance abatement.
The legal fight concerns a long-neglected house, owned by Curtis's company since 2021, that is not considered safe, according to the lawsuit.
But Curtis has now taken to Facebook to hit back at the allegations.
Earlier this week, she wrote: 'Just a reminder, I save old houses, but it's not a job - it's one of my passions and it is second to my passion to just be me - most days that's just blending in being mom wearing the same darn outfit you've seen me in for 20 years and just doing my best to ensure that my legacy is being a great mom that loved rather than "that chick who had that show" when I die.'
She shared how she had worked her way up to land her series Rehab Addict.
'Over the years, my stamina and determination built a solid foundation, a hit show, global recognition and enough money to breathe and then some, but it also built me a list of enemies,' she continued.
'I've been sued, blackmailed, extorted, betrayed, you name it and not just by the usual suspects, but by "friends" and loved ones that I trusted with my soul.

'It's a grief that is hard to explain if you haven't gone through it, but also one that does the opposite of what your enemies' intentions were... it builds you right back up.'
Seemingly turning her attention to the house listed in the suit, Curtis added: 'I've got two full crews starting at 7am tomorrow in Detroit.
'Not out to make a buck, not out to make a name for myself, not out to rob and pillage (as some say about me), just out to save historic homes from being demolished and/or ruined by flippers.
'Now, with all that being said, THANK YOU, for sticking by me (and not just in this past year) but through it all.'
The post, shared with her one million followers, concluded: 'You all know my love for these cities I call(ed) home and it's never been for the heck of it.
'So, I'm just continuing being me unapologetically Nicole Curtis - the mom that prefers under the radar, hiding in plain sight, working on an old house.'
The new lawsuit brought against Curtis claims the property has remained a danger to the surrounding community despite a 2021 order mandating renovations.
It alleges that the owners did not make the necessary repairs and that there are ongoing code violations, including structural decay and garbage.

The City of Detroit is seeking that the home be fixed and the violation fines paid in full.
Curtis was previously pulled off screens after she was caught on camera using the N-word.
The former TV star, a native of Lake Orion, Michigan, was heard using the racial epithet in a clip published by Radar, saying: 'Oh, fart n*****,' while filming her series Rehab Addict.
Earlier this year, Curtis claimed that a slip of the tongue was to blame.
In her appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show in March, Curtis told hosts Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious that she uses similar terms, 'fart digger' and 'fart knocker' – which led to the on-camera slip.
