Fortnite 34.21 update patch notes for April Fools Day

Fortnite hasn’t hosted an April Fools’ Day event in seven years, but that’s all set to change with the surprise 34.21 update.

This patch is set to not only revive the April Fools’ tradition but also introduce iconic Mortal Kombat content, including Scorpion’s arrival, his powerful Kombat Kit Mythic weapon, the First Blood Medallion, and three new Mortal Kombat-themed map locations.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 34.21 update downtime, along with all the official patch notes and the secret features Epic Games has planned.

Fortnite downtime for April 1 update

Epic Games hasn’t confirmed whether there will be any downtime for the upcoming update, scheduled to arrive on April 1 at 7 AM PT | 10 AM ET | 2 PM GMT.

Unlike the usual Tuesday updates that roll out seamlessly every week to introduce minor tweaks like new Weekly or Story Quests, NPC adjustments, or small weapon pool changes, this update will be much bigger.

We’ll keep you posted if the developer confirms that the servers will be temporarily taken down for the next Fortnite update, and if so, when they will be back up.

April Fools Day event

Epic Games has kept details about Fortnite’s April Fools’ Day plans tightly under wraps. However, trusted leaker HYPEX has claimed that Epic is planning to launch a surprise limited-time event on April 1 with the 34.21 patch.

Though it’s not mentioned in the official patch notes, players can expect a playful twist featuring:

• Quests
• Gameplay effects
• Rewards

The last April Fools Day event took place seven years ago in 2018 during Season 3, featuring a twist where Impulse Grenades were supercharged with a massive 10x buff, sending players flying like never before. Please take the April Fools additions with a pinch of salt, as Epic has not announced these.

Scorpion’s Kombat Kit Mythic and First Blood Medallion

Resurrected for revenge and bound by honor, the ninja specter Scorpion is a threat to any mortal. If you manage to defeat this Character coming to the Island April 1, you’ll be rewarded with his Mythic Scorpion’s Kombat Kit and the First Blood Medallion.

Land Scorpion’s Spear from the Kombat Kit to hook enemies in, then let loose a series of combo attacks to FINISH THEM! The Medallion will make your first shot from any weapon’s magazine explode when it hits an enemy.

Get over here! The standard version of Scorpion’s Kombat Kit is also dropping April 1 and will be found in Chests around the Island. Scorpion himself will be found at one of the three new landmarks arriving on the map April 1: The Pit, The Living Forest, and The Dead Pool.

Unlocking April 1 at 9 AM ET, put your skills to the test with new Quests based on Klassic Kombat! You’ll be rewarded 30,000 XP apiece for completing each of the Quests below, with more Quests becoming progressively available:

• Hit 10 players with Ice Slide
• Deal 500 damage to players while on the bridge at The Pit
• Shatter 5 players’ Shield beyond 10 meters
• Collect the First Blood Medallion in 2 different matches
• Hit an opponent with both a Kombat Kit air kick and uppercut within 5 seconds
• Defeat Scorpion while carrying Sub-Zero’s Kombat Kit
