Fortnite players torn over one risky feature in Chapter 6 Season 2

One Fortnite mechanic in the current season has left players feeling conflicted as to whether or not it’s worth the effort to pull off.

Fortnite’s Chapter 6 Season 2 rolled out with a heist theme called Lawless, bringing a plethora of new weapons and items and an all-new mechanic involving vaults.

Though vaults aren’t exactly new in the game, the way they work in the current chapter is different. Instead of using key cards, you’ll have to find Thermites scattered all over the map to break into them.

As usual, these locations will also provide loot you can grab once you get inside. Despite that being the case, however, many players have been conflicted about whether getting inside a vault is worth it in the first place.

The topic was raised in a Reddit thread, in which one user first asked if anyone else felt vaults weren’t worth it.

The main gripe with vaults is essentially not only do you have to land at one that’s “miles away from anybody else” to be safe, but when opening the actual vault, you’ll also have to deal with killing NPCs, bosses, baron – and even potentially other players, risking yourself and burning your resources in the process.

“The loot is underwhelming for the amount of effort it all takes. Especially when you have to share it with teammates. Often in duos, I leave the vault with the same gun I went in with – usually green, with no ammo left,” they added.

Many agreed to this in the comments, with some players adding that these take a long time to open, especially if you play solo, and even then, you’ll also have to head to a Black Market to use the Dill Bits. But others argued back that they were worth the effort.

As stated by one user, they’re still “definitely worth” since you can get a Mythic from exchanging the Dill Bits. Others have also chimed in to say there’s a ton of gold inside or a medallion they don’t want to miss out on, all of which are important in this current season.

“They are extremely worth it in cups,” one user wrote. Some have also suggested it’s better to head to the secret vault to avoid bumping into others.
