PETALING JAYA - Several areas in Selangor were hit by hail at around 4pm on March 9.
Facebook user Zaem Nordin recorded the phenomenon while he was waiting at a traffic light intersection in Section 9 in the capital city of Shah Alam.
In the video, small hailstones about one to two cm in diameter are seen on the grass verge along the road.
Another Facebook user, Azmi Radar Saham, also shared a video of him excitedly reacting to his first experience of falling hail, Sinar Harian reported.
“This is my first time witnessing it with my own eyes. Perhaps we need winter clothing,” he posted.
There were also several accounts of fallen trees in Section 9 and Section 17 due to the storm.
Facebook user Mohd Izzudin Salahudin, there were four fallen trees along Persiaran Kayangan heading towards The University of Selangor from Plaza Masalam.
“Heavy rain in Shah Alam. Avoid going through Persiaran Kayangan towards Unisel from Plaza Masalam,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Highway Authority alerted commuters fallen trees at the Shah Alam Intersection northbound from Setia Alam to Shah Alam which were causing traffic slowdown.
“The right and left lanes are blocked. Traffic is slow. Always be alert when driving,” it said. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
